Walgreens 'Jingles' in Stores and Online

Walgreens offered its Balance Rewards cardholders a variety of holiday purchase incentives this fall beginning the week of Thanksgiving and continuing into mid-December.Most prominent was the retailer's annual "Jingle Cash" offering, which awarded next-trip savings to both in-store and online shoppers making required purchases. The retailer has offered Jingle Cash every year since 2010 (except 2012) but hadn't included online purchases in the promotion until this year.The promotion ran in two flights. Shoppers who spent $30, $50 or $100 from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 received next-trip savings of $5, $10 or $20, respectively, that could be redeemed Dec. 4-10. Shoppers making the same required purchases from Dec. 4-10 received savings to be redeemed Dec. 11-17.In stores, shoppers making the required purchase received Catalina coupons printed at checkout that included codes to be used online, if desired. Online, shoppers received their coupons via email and could subsequently link them to their Balance Rewards accounts to use in stores or online.Walgreens promoted the Jingle Cash incentive with features in its Nov. 27 and Dec. 4 circulars, emails to registered consumers and a variety of signage, including A-boards at entrances, circular rack signs, power wing headers and counter clings. Walgreens.com home-page ads and a dedicated landing page supported.In other activity, Walgreens offered cardholders:a "points booster" coupon promising 5,000 extra rewards points with $30 purchases from Nov. 20-23 — the days leading up to Thanksgiving;a "25% off" three-day shopping pass from Nov. 24-26 (all Walgreens stores were open on Thanksgiving);a walgreens.com Cyber Week incentive of 25% off from Nov. 27-Dec. 3.The two 25% offers applied only to regularly priced items.
