Target, Mickey Mouse Welcome Summer
Target is kicking off summer by joining with Walt Disney Co. to stock an exclusive collection of licensed Mickey Mouse merchandise.
Spanning multiple categories, the collection encompasses more than 350 themed items including shower gel, bubble bath, apparel, SC Johnson's Ziploc bags, pool floats, Up & Up kids sunscreen spray, face masks, table runners, and L'Oreal Paris lipstick and eyeliner, Campbell Soup Co.'s Pepperidge Farm crackers and Kimberly-Clark's Kleenex tissues and Viva paper towels. In stores, the SKUs are spotlighted via ceiling signs and racks positioned at store entrances. Shorties in the seasonal department stock the collection’s seasonal and summer-themed items under headers depicting a cartoon sun, Mickey Mouse and a "love Mickey" message. The SKUs will be available in stores and via a dedicated target.com character shop throughout the summer, according to a May 17 A Bullseye View blog post.
The partnership ties in to the 90th anniversary of the Disney cartoon mouse, which made its first appearance in the animated short film Steamboat Willie in 1928. Target said in the blog post that it wants to help give its shoppers a “summer overflowing with Mickey memories” while the world celebrates the iconic mouse's anniversary.
“Target’s known for bringing amazing, unique collaborations — and exclusive products — to our guests, all for prices that can’t be beat,” said Mark Tritton, Target's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, in the blog post. “It’s been an incredible experience partnering with Disney to create a collection that celebrates Mickey and the pure magic of summer in a distinctly Target way."
