ShopRite and P&G Tackle Stink
ShopRite and Procter & Gamble recently teamed up for a "Spike the Stink" promotion encouraging shoppers to pose laundry questions to National Football League players.
Shoppers were able to ask Giants offensive guard Justin Pugh or Eagles tight end Zach Ertz how they "take down odors" and write in other questions between Dec. 3-23, 2017, via a promotional page on the retailer's website (shoprite.com/spikethestink). Ertz and Pugh are answering select questions on ShopRite's Facebook page Jan. 8 and Jan 9, respectively.
Multiple features in December circulars spotlighted the promotion, depicting either Ertz or Pugh (depending on the market) and SKUs from P&G brands Tide, Downy and Bounce. A Dec. 6 ShopRite Facebook update and Twitter updates from ShopRite, Ertz and Pugh supported.
The promotion is an overlay to P&G’s national "Spike the Stink" campaign, which touts Tide products and stars New England Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski. (See video below.) The manufacturer is an official sponsor of the NFL.
ShopRite regularly partners with P&G on a variety of promotions, most recently teaming with the manufacturer to fight hunger in August 2017 and hosting in-store events encouraging shoppers to donate their hair to cancer patients in October.
