Bodega Mobile App
Two former Google employees created quite a stir in the tech media recently with their mobile app and vending concept called “Bodega” – a nod that it’s replacing the corner store called bodega. Shoppers using the Bodega mobile app and who are near one of the “stores” (which look like office furniture or hotel lobby cabinets stocked with sundries) enter that location’s code in the app to open the doors. They then simply take what items they want. Machine learning and cameras inside the store watch and record what the shoppers take, communicating to the app, which has a link to the shoppers’ credit cards. The shoppers are billed automatically, and the Bodega team is alerted that the item needs to be restocked. Bodega AI Inc., San Francisco, is testing the concept in 30 locations in the Bay area.
