Bang Sweet Ice Tea Launches Exclusively at H-E-B

Texas grocer H-E-B is enjoying an exclusive launch window for a new sugar-free sweet ice tea-flavored Bang energy beverage from sports nutrition supplement and performance beverage manufacturer Vital Pharmaceuticals.The new flavor was first introduced along with lemon drop sweet tea and Georgia peach sweet tea flavors at the Europa Games Expo on April 14-16 in Orlando, FL, as part of a launch event Bang dubbed the “Triple Threat TEAse." H-E-B's exclusive flavor will become available nationwide after six months. All three flavors are currently available at H-E-B stores and on VPX's website, while the lemon drop and Georgia peach flavors are also stocked at select stores such as GNC, 7-Eleven and Vitamin Shoppe. In H-E-B stores, the new ice tea flavor (priced at $2.50) is stocked with other Bang energy drinks on endcaps and adjacent coolers, as well as on pallet displays, in refrigerators and on checkout endcap displays, offering shoppers both room temperature and chilled options.Social media support for the exclusive flavor includes multiple Twitter, Facebook and Instagram updates from Bang. In addition, Bang staged a number of giveaways on Instagram, first announced on chief executive officer and chief scientific officer Jack Owoc's Instagram account on April 2. Owoc promised to give away three 24-packs of Bang energy drinks (one for each new flavor), but that number grew to seven when the winners were announced on May 2 via Instagram. Consumers were directed to bangenergygiveaway.com to sign up, and instructed to tag three friends plus H-E-B's Instagram handle in the comments section of any Instagram post that plugged the giveaway. Bang Energy's Instagram account also plugged the giveaway. In a May 1 media release detailing the launch, Vital Pharmaceuticals’ vice president of global sales Gene Bukovi previewed what’s next for the company, stating "we are also extremely excited about upcoming launches in Publix, Walmart and Sam's Club." Bukovi didn’t respond to a request for details on the upcoming launches. Walmart already offers select SKUs from VPX brands including Bang, while Publix and Sam’s Club do not.
