Aldi, Instacart Fight Hunger for Giving Tuesday

By Cyndi Loza - 12/03/2018

Aldi tied in to Giving Tuesday this year by pledging to match each of its orders made that day through grocery delivery service Instacart with a donation (up to $100,000) to Feeding America.

Instacart further strengthened the initiative by promising to waive the $3.99 delivery fee on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27, for all Aldi orders of $35 or more and donate the value of each waived fee to the hunger fighting organization. Instacart and Aldi Twitter and Facebook updates spotlighted the offer and initiative.

"Aldi is dedicated to being a good neighbor and building strong communities. We're proud to be a Feeding America leadership partner and to support efforts to end hunger in America," said Joan Kavanaugh, Aldi vice president, in a media release. "This year, we want to make it even easier for people to help us give back to Feeding America. By simply ordering through Instacart, people can join Aldi and help provide meals to people in need while planning meals of their own."

The philanthropic initiative also serves to spotlight Aldi's growing partnership with Instacart. Through Instacart, the hard discounter has launched grocery delivery in 75 major markets across its entire 35-state footprint, including San Diego, New York, Miami, Minneapolis, and Raleigh, N.C.
